Work With Us

How We Partner

Every partnership is different.

The questions, people, context, and challenges are always unique. That’s why we don’t bring a pre-packaged process or one-size-fits-all framework.

What remains consistent is how we work.

Our role is to help organizations strengthen their adaptive learning capacity - the ability to notice change, make meaning together, and respond with intention as complexity unfolds.

We do that through a practice of orienting, attending, making sense, adapting, and embedding learning.

ORIENT

We begin by understanding your context. Together, we explore your history, relationships, goals, assumptions, and the questions that matter most. Before collecting data, we work to understand the system you’re operating within and the change you’re hoping to create.

This stage helps ensure that evaluation serves your learning rather than forcing your work into someone else’s framework.

ATTEND

Next, we pay attention. We gather evidence, listen across perspectives, and create space for experiences, insights, and questions that might otherwise go unnoticed. We’re not only looking for outcomes. We’re looking for patterns, tensions, relationships, surprises, and signals that help us understand how change is unfolding.

This is where organizations strengthen their capacity to notice.

MAKE SENSE

Information alone rarely leads to better decisions. Together, we reflect on what we’re learning, identify patterns, explore different interpretations, and create shared understanding. Rather than delivering findings from a distance, we facilitate sensemaking with people closest to the work.

This is where organizations strengthen their capacity to make meaning.

ADAPT

Learning becomes valuable when it informs action. As insights emerge, we help teams explore implications, test assumptions, refine strategies, and make decisions in real time. Rather than waiting for a final report, learning becomes part of how the work evolves.

This is where organizations strengthen their capacity to respond.

EMBED

The ultimate goal is not dependence on an external evaluator. It’s building the structures, habits, and relationships that allow learning to continue long after an engagement ends. Whether through reflection practices, learning routines, evaluation systems, or internal capacity building, we help make learning part of how your organization operates.

Learning cultures don’t rely on consultants to tell them what they know. They have the capacity to keep learning for themselves.

What Partnership Looks Like

Most of our work involves long-term partnerships rather than one-time projects. That continuity matters.

It allows us to move beyond isolated findings and toward a deeper understanding of how change is unfolding over time.

We typically work with a small number of organizations at a time, allowing us to build trusted relationships, understand context deeply, and support learning as it unfolds.

Depending on your needs, that might include evaluation, facilitation, strategic learning, sensemaking, organizational learning design, or a combination of approaches. The methods vary. The purpose remains the same:

Helping organizations become better at noticing, making meaning, and responding in complex environments.

This Approach Works Best When…

Our work is especially valuable when:

  • You’re navigating complexity and need to learn as you go, rather than follow a predetermined plan

  • You’re working toward systems change, community change, culture change, network building, or other outcomes that don’t fit neatly into traditional evaluation approaches

  • You want evaluation to support learning, adaptation, and decision-making, not just reporting and accountability

  • You’re asking questions that don’t have straightforward answers and need a thought partner to help make sense of what’s emerging

  • You believe the people closest to the work should play an active role in interpreting evidence and shaping learning

  • You’re looking for a long-term partner who can build trust, understand context deeply, and support learning over time

  • You want to strengthen your organization’s capacity to learn, reflect, and adapt, not simply receive a report at the end of a project

We may not be the best fit if you’re looking for a highly standardized evaluation process, a rapid compliance-focused assessment, or a consultant who operates entirely outside of your team and decision-making processes.
